October 14th after the awesome concert in Calgary. Walking out of the casino, turned around and there was Johnny. He put his arm around my shoulder and asked if I had a good time at the concert. Walked and chatted to the lobby. |

Friday, Oct 17 was pretty close to the best day of my life! It all started with a much needed massage in the morning. After that, I headed off to Winnipeg to the QX104fm radio station. They had called my name a couple weeks back to "pay my bill" (contest put on by the radio station) so I was going down there to get that taken care of. First, I must say, I did not have Johnny Reid tickets at that time (sold out) and was SO desparate! QX104 had been giving away a pair of tickets the night before and I literally sat on my couch all evening long with two cell phones in my hand waiting for the cue to call which happened just after 10:00pm. I then called immediately and got through! However, I must have been the second caller because it just kept ringing I've enjoyed so many of his songs for some time but officially "fell in love" with Mr. Reid after seeing him open for Martien McBride in March. He was absolutely phenomenal!!! Anyway, back at the radio station, I knew Johnny was going to be there from 12:00-1:00 and it just so happened that I was as the station at about 11:50 (seriously, didn't actually plan that). As I was at the desk, guess who walks in....yes....JOHNNY REID. He is absolutely AMAZING!! The nicest guy ever!!! He looked over at my friend and I and could obviously tell we were fans so he walked right over and started talking to us, as if we were long lost friends! You won't find any cockiness there, he is genuinely a super nice guy. After a nice little chat, he had to go and I decided that I had to go to the casino where he was playing even though I did not have tickets (tried to get the radio station to keep their cheque for $150 that they were giving me for paying my bill in exchange for Johnny Reid tickets~didn't work), I was going to just hope to hear through the giant curtain they pull closed. When I got there (with another friend, who unfortunately has not been hit with the Johnny Reid bug as I have), I just happened to ask if there were any more tickets available. I was told there was a gentleman looking to get rid of one ticket! My friend insisted I go as she was not really a huge fan and knew how much it meant to me. The nice lady I had been talking to said she would attempt to find the gentleman with the ticket but couldn't promise anything. Approximately 15 minutes later, a fine lady that was with the gentleman came to ask if there was anyone looking for a ticket. Well, I basically screamed out "I AM"!!! Turns out her friend was sick and she did have another friend that took the ticket but also became sick that day. So, there I was, ticket in hand ready to see the show. If that were not enough, turns out the ticket was for FRONT ROW, CENTER!!! There you have it, nearly the best day of my life (right behind my wedding and birth of my two children). All in one day, massage, met Johnny Reid, got a cheque for $150 from QX104, sat front row at the Johnny Reid concert, and to end the night, played the slots at the casino for a little while, spent $60, left with $120. Does get much better than that!!! |

What a phenomenal story. Have you signed up for the Tartan Army fan club yet to get more opportunities to meet up with Johnny? Can't count on luck all the time, eh?
